President Joe Biden’s expected announcement that he’ll replace U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors Chairman Ron Bloom has won applause from Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-Paterson), a vocal critic of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

“Today the President took a big move towards rebuilding America’s Post Office. Ron Bloom has been an enabler and cheerleader for Louis DeJoy as he’s dismantled our Post Office,” Pascrell said.  “That President Biden will replace Mr. Bloom will be music to the ears of tens of millions of Americans outraged at the endemic delays created by Louis DeJoy.”

The leading candidate to replace Bloom is Daniel Mark Tangherlini, who served as administrator of the General Services Administration under President Barack Obama, published reports say.

“President Biden’s appointment of new postal governors is an essential step in fixing the Post Office. I thank the President for acting with urgency and now the Senate must share that urgency and quickly confirm Mr. Tangherlini,” Pascrell stated.  “We must then wipe the slate clean by firing Louis DeJoy and ending his sabotage.  We can’t lose a minute.  Meanwhile Congress must pass overarching reform to right USPS’s finances.”

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Pascrell asked New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal to empanel a grand jury to probe DeJoy and President Donald Trump for “subverting state elections” by gutting the post office
