NJ-3 GOP candidates agree to debate

Matt Rooney will moderate June 16 Gibbs vs. Richter face off

By David Wildstein, June 09 2020 9:18 am

The two Republican candidates in the fiercely contested 3rd district congressional primary have agreed to debate remotely on June 16.

Kate Gibbs and David Richter will face each other in an hour-ling debate moderated by Save Jersey founder Matt Rooney Stephanie Panza Faughnan, the TAPino Barnegat/Waretown editor.

The two camps had argued in recent weeks about the format of the debate, which will be livestreamed on Facebook and on the two websites.

The winner of the July 7 Republican primary will take on freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) in one of the nation’s most hotly contested House races.

Kim ousted two-term Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-Toms River) in the 2018 mid-term elections by a narrow 3,973 votes, 50%-49%.
