New Kean ad slams Malinowski on ethics

By David Wildstein, October 18 2022 9:22 am

Republican congressional candidate Tom Kean, Jr. hammers the Democratic incumbent, Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes), over stock trades that have led to an investigation by the House Ethics Committee in his third TV ad of the campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district.

In “He did it,” Kean uses media clips and photos of the incumbent to tell voters about an issue that that hampered Malinowski’s second term in Congress: an allegation that he failed to properly disclose stock trades in 2019 and 2020 and was late in filing personal transaction reports.  The House Ethics Committee has not yet determined if any rules were broken.

Script: “(Voiceover) He did it.  (News Anchor) New Jersey Congressman Tom Malinowski is facing ethics complaints.  (News Clip: Not disclosing 3.1 million dollars.  (Voiceover) Tom Malinowski knowingly violated the law designed to stop members of Congress from insider trading.  Now he’s under investigation.  That’s why we need Tom Kean, Jr.   A leader in ethics reform.  Tom Kean, Jr. will always be a congressman you can trust.   (Kean) I’m Tom Kean, Jr. and I approved this message.”

“Our Congressman betrayed the trust of the people he took an oath to represent when he decided that his political future was more important than following the law,” Kean said.

Earlier this month, the Congressional Leadership Fund began airing ads on Malinowski’s ethics.
