NARAL endorses Schmid

NARAL Pro-Choice America endorsed Stephanie Schmid’s congressional bid Tuesday.

“The stakes for reproductive freedom could not be higher in 2020, as Radical Right politicians across the country continue their relentless campaign to ban abortion and push access to reproductive healthcare as far out of reach as possible,” NARAL President Ilyse Hogue said. “NARAL is proud to endorse Stephanie Schmid, who will be a fierce advocate for reproductive freedom in Congress after unseating anti-choice, anti-freedom Representative Chris Smith, who for too long has advanced an extreme and out-of-touch ideological agenda.”

Schmid is running against Rep. Chris Smith (R-Hamilton) in the fourth congressional district.

Real Clear Politics and Sabato’s Crystal Ball have not rated the race, indicating they do not believe the race is competitive.

Their millions of members work tirelessly to fight for and protect reproductive freedom for everyone, and I am proud to be a longtime advocate for and partner with NARAL,” Schmid said. “After 39 years of anti-choice leadership from Rep.
