Murphy stumps for Kennedy today

Gov. Phil Murphy will host an economic relief roundtable to boost Democrat Amy Kennedy’s bid to unseat Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) in New Jersey’s 2nd district.

Murphy and Kennedy will be joined by Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, the administration’s point-person on Atlantic City local issues, and South Jersey union leaders.

This is Murphy’s third government/political event with Democratic House candidates in six days.

He visited the 3rd district to make announce COVID relief funds with Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) last Friday, and did the same thing with Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) in the 7th district yesterday.

Murphy declined to say if he would make a similar announcement with Van Drew, a former Democrat who switched parties last year.  The Kennedy event was announced after his press conference.|

Republican have strongly criticized Murphy targeting Democratic House members in competitive districts with financial aid events.

Prior to the Kennedy campaign appearance, Murphy is making an official visit to deliver remarks at a Stockton University groundbreaking ceremony.
