After more than 10 years, Michael Maitland is leaving the staff of Rep. Donald Norcross (D-Camden) to take another position and will be replaced by Mary Campbell Cruz.
Cruz, a longtime fixture in New Jersey politics, has spent the last six years as Norcross’ district director.

She previously served as New Jersey political director for 1199 SEIU, as director of the New Jersey Healthcare Workers Alliance and as district director to Rep. John Adler (D-Cherry Hill). She was field director for Adler’s 2008 congressional race, campaign manage for Shelley Adler’s 2012 House bid, and a former New Jersey Democratic State Committee staffer.
Maitland also has close ties to New Jersey Democratic politics.
He has served as Norcross’ chief of staff when he was in the New Jersey State Senate and went to Washington with him when he won a congressional seat in 2014. He had run U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg’s South Jersey office and ran campaigns for State Sen. Fred Madden (D-Washington), Assemblyman Paul Moriarty (D-Washington) and Assemblywoman Sandra Love (D-Gloucester City).
