Democratic congressional candidate Robert J. Menendez has won the endorsement of the Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council.

“Rob has made clear that when we are fighting for worker protections, for better wages, and for the right to organize, that he’ll be standing by our side,” said Pat Kelleher, President of the Hudson County Building and Construction Trades Council.  “He is a friend not only to us, but to all working families throughout Hudson County and the 8th district.”

Menendez is seeking his party’s nomination to succeed retiring Rep. Albio Sires (D-West New York) to represent parts of Hudson, Essex and Union counties in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I know Rob’s values, and I know that he will stay true to those values in Washington,” Kelleher said.  “We are excited to help him get there and to turn out the vote in the last week of this pivotal race.”

A commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Menendez is the clear front runner to win next week’s Democratic primary for the open House seat.   He has the organization lines in all three counties and has raised $1,064,060 and spent $639,995 so far.

Neither of his primary opponents have raised substantial amounts of money.  David Ocampo Grajales has raised $37,433 and Ane Roseborough Eberhard has not reported raising anything.
