Republican U.S. Senate candidate Hirsh Singh has received endorsements from Ocean County Republican Chairman Frank Holman III and GOP vice chair Barbara Lanuto in his bid to challenge incumbent Cory Booker.

“Singh is a leader, and the future of the Republican Party that understands grassroots campaigning with strong conservative principles,” Holman said in a statement released today. “Singh has the full support of our organization and I encourage every member of our team to join me in endorsing Singh’s campaign.”

Singh won the Ocean County Republican convention last week with 56% of the vote against Rik Mehta, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official who had won the recommendation of the Ocean GOP screening committee.

He beat Mehta, 106 to 77, with Natalie Rivera receiving five votes.  Another candidate, Tricia Flanagan, did not appear on the ballot after she failed to get someone to second her nomination at the convention.

Mehta has won organization endorsements in twelve counties: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Salem, Somerset, Union and Warren counties.

“With Ocean County at his back, Singh will lead New Jersey to a Republican decade,” said Lanuto, one of the party’s premier workhorses.
