Congressional Leadership Fund hits three New Jersey Democrats over Pelosi vote

By Nikita Biryukov, January 04 2021 4:06 pm

The Congressional Leadership Fund is back on the social platforms in three New Jersey congressional districts, already attempting to soften up incumbents there for a challenge in 2022.

The super PAC, which has ties to House Republican leadership, is targeting Reps. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), Andy Kim (D-Bordentown) and Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) with Google search ads dinging them for voting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.) into another term, though not all of them did.

Those ads, backed by an unspecified five-figure buy, redirect to WinRed page that attacks the Democrats for their support of the speaker and claims they want to defund the police.

The Pelosi attack is somewhat incongruous for Sherrill, who was the only New Jersey Democrat who didn’t vote to re-elect her. Sherrill didn’t back Pelosi for the speakership in 2019 either.
