State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) was an early supporter of Christine Serrano Glassner for U.S. Senate, but he might revisit that after former President Donald Trump endorsed her on Saturday.
“I’ve got some serious questions about some of the things she said,” Bramnick told the New Jersey Globe. “We’re going to have some discussions.”
Bramnick, a staunchly anti-Trump moderate seeking the Republican nomination for governor next year, seems concerned about Serrano Glassner’s statement that she would not have voted to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.
But that doesn’t mean Bramnick is going to jump to Curtis Bashaw either.
“It appears that everyone running now is pledging their allegiance to Trump,” he said, noting Bashaw’s endorsement last month of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. “I pledge my allegiance to the people of New Jersey.”
Another gubernatorial candidate, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli (R-Somerville), said in a broadcast interview last November, that he was also supporting Serrano Glassner, the mayor of Mendham Borough. Since then, he appears to have backed off that statement.
On Sunday, former State Sen. Ed “The Trucker” Durr (R-Logan) announced his endorsement of Serrano Glassner. Durr is announcing his entrance into the governor’s race this evening.
