Assemblyman Bob Auth is running for the Republican nod to take on Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
Auth, who has served in the legislature since 2014, sent an email to Bergen County Republican Chairman Jack Zisa and Vice Chairwoman Margaret Frontera asking to participate in the party’s March 23 convention to seek the nomination to take on Gottheimer.
“Pleas accept this letter as my request to participate in the Bergen County Republican Organization’s upcoming convention,” Auth said. “I will be seeking our Party’s nomination as its congressional candidate for District 5.”
Former investment banker Frank Pallotta and Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali are already in the race, as is former Cresskill Councilman John McCann, who unsuccessfully attempted to oust Gottheimer in 2018.
