The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees endorsed Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) on Tuesday.

“Congressman Gottheimer is an advocate for public employees and the services that AFSCME members provide to the people of New Jersey. His recent vote in favor of the HEROES Act demonstrates his commitment to protecting the public services that the people of New Jersey and the entire country rely on,” AFSCME NJ Council 63 Executive Director Steven Tully said. “Congressman Gottheimer has stood with AFSCME New Jersey members and we are proud to stand with him.”

Gottheimer face a primary challenge from Arati Kreibich in his bid for a third term in the House.

“I am proud to receive AFSCME’s endorsement today,” the congressman said. “The hardworking men and women of labor are the backbone of our economy, and I will keep fighting for them in the halls of Congress.”

The union also endorsed Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-Paterson).

“Congressman Pascrell is an advocate for public employees and the services that AFSCME members provide to the people of New Jersey. His recent vote in favor of the HEROES Act demonstrates his commitment to protecting the public services that the people of New Jersey and the entire country rely on,” Tully said. “Congressman Pascrell has stood with AFSCME New Jersey members and we are proud to stand with him.”

Pascrell faces primary challenges from Alp Basaran and Zina Spezakis.
