Today is the deadline to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot for the June 8 primary election through the mail.
VBM applications can still be processed in-person at the county clerk’s office until 3 PM next Monday.
While state law permits voters to request a mail-in ballot by close of business today, the execution could be dicey. Some county clerks will send the ballot through regular mail, which will take several days.
Voters might strongly consider using ballot drop boxes and not the U.S. Postal Service from this point on. The post office can no guarantee that a ballot mailed this week would necessarily arrive in time to be counted.
New Jerseyans who have already received a VBM ballot have until PM on June 8 to return it. Again, the U.S. Postal Service may not be the most reliable option.
All voters may use the “Track My Ballot” feature on the Division of Elections website to ensure that previously mailed ballots have received and to confirm that requested VBM ballots have been sent count.
In-person voting returns to normal this year.
