A pair of Republicans launched Assembly bids to take on two Democratic incumbents in South Jersey’s 4th legislative district.
Teacher Amanda Esposito and real estate agent Gerard “Jerry” McManus announced their candidacies in a Monday press release. Esposito ran for Assembly in the district in 2023, and McManus serves on the Winslow Township School Board.
The pair will challenge freshmen Assemblymen Dan Hutchison (D-Gloucester Twp) and Cody Miller (D-Monroe), who themselves face a primary challenge from Rutgers University-Camden assistant dean Brian Everett.
“Their announcement underscores a steadfast commitment to amplifying the voices of LD4 residents and businesses in Trenton,” the press release stated. “With the campaign slogan ‘It’s About You LD4,’ Esposito and McManus emphasize a bottom-up approach dedicated to representing the needs of the district at the state level.”
Hutchison and Miller finished about 3,000 votes ahead of Esposito in the 2023 general election.
The fourth legislative district encompasses sections of Atlantic, Camden, and Gloucester counties.
