Palatucci picks up endorsement from Morris state committeeman

Morris County Republican State Committeeman Larry Casha has endorsed Bill Palatucci and Ginny Haines for re-election as New Jersey’s representative to the Republican National Committee.

Palatucci faces a challenge from John Sette, who served as the Morris County GOP Chairman for seventeen years.

“The team of Ginny and bill have tirelessly worked with the RNC on a national level gaining the respect of their pears which reflects positively upon us in New Jersey,” Casha said. “With the experience they have acquired and energy they have displayed, there are no better representatives that we can send to Washington on our behalf.”

Last year, Palatucci had backed Casha for the Republican nomination for Congress in the 11th district.

Casha exited the race in January when party leaders created a plan for Rosemary Becchi to switch from her challenge Tom Kean, Jr. in the 7th and instead run against freshman Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in the 11th.

Palatucci was not informed of the plans until after the deal was completed earlier this afternoon.  Numerous Republican leaders said that was deliberate so that he did not attempt to dismantle a move that had already been completed.

The longtime ally of Gov. Chris Christie has faced criticism for levering his party post to pressure Becchi to drop her race against Kean while being paid $21,128 by the Kean for Congress campaign in 2019.

Palatucci strong-armed Becchi and some of her supporters last year, according to emails he sent that were shared with the Globe.

The election is scheduled for later this month.
