New Jersey removes nearly 100,000 from voter rolls

New Jersey has lost 97,674 voters since last month after inactive voters were deleted from the voter rolls.

Among those removed were 38,065 Democrats, 18,828 Republicans, and 39,457 unaffiliated voters.

The state now has 970,708 more Democrats than Republicans; the voter registration advantage for Democrats last month was 989,944.

It’s now been thirteen months since New Jersey had more than a million more Democrats than Republicans.  Democrats had reached that number in July 2020, during an amplified presidential election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.  Republicans have gained ground in New Jersey since Biden’s election.

Republicans had marginal gains in all of the key legislative contests.

In the 7th congressional district, Republicans outnumber Democrats by 16,210, down slightly from 17,037 last month.   And in the 11th legislative district, the Democratic voter registration edge decreased from 14,171 to 13,731.

In February, the Public Legal Interest Foundation, a group affiliated with conservatives, voluntarily dismissed a lawsuit filed in federal court that challenged New Jersey’s transparency in providing access to voter lists.
