Three Democrats who represent the City of Camden in the New Jersey Legislature today endorsed Vic Carstarphen for mayor.
“Vic is a natural leader who unites people. From his legendary Camden High championship basketball-playing and coaching days, to mentoring thousands of Camden youth, Vic will be the leader who brings our youthful city together,” said State Sen. Nilsa Cruz-Perez (D-Barrington) and Assemblymen William Spearman (D-Camden) and Bill Moen (D-Camden).
Carstarphen has quickly emerged as the leading contender to replace Mayor Frank Moran, who said on Friday that he will resign on April 30 for health reasons.
Carstarphen, a local basketball legend, spent ten years as a Camden Board of Education member and is now in his second year as a city councilman.
