In LD-8, Katz and Angelozzi to face familiar foes

A full rematch of the 2023 Assembly race is now in the works

Assemblywoman Andrea Katz (D-Chesterfield) and Hammonton teachers union leader Anthony Angelozzi secured the Democratic nominations for Assembly in the 8th legislative district, setting up a 2023 rematch.

Katz and Angelozzi defeated former Evesham Councilman Eddie Freeman, who ran under Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop’s Democrats for Change slate. The 8th legislative district includes parts of Burlington and Atlantic counties.

In 2023, Assemblyman Michael Torrissi (R-Hammonton) and Katz secured first and second place, leaving Angelozzi and former Assemblyman Brandon Umba (R-Medford) behind. But Angelozzi and Umba are back for another round, and both parties think they have a chance of sweeping the two seats.
