The Bergen County Jewish Action Committee, a non-profit group that combats discrimination and anti-Semitism, has endorsed Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Tenafly) for the Democratic nomination for governor.

The announcement of support comes in advance of tonight’s Bergen County Democratic convention.

“Josh has been a clear and consistent voice against antisemitism, and he has been a champion when it comes to protecting Jewish students in schools and on campus,” the group said in a statement. “His unshakable support for Israel and his efforts on behalf of the hostages are a testament to his deep loyalty to the Jewish community in New Jersey and the values that bind us together.”

The Mercer County Progressive Caucus has endorsed Newark Mayor Ras Barak for governor.

“Ras Baraka isn’t just talking about the policies that matter to working families – he’s actually delivered them,” said Co-Chair Fran Carroll.  “For more than 10 years, Mayor Baraka has governed with courage and consistency, showing New Jersey what it means to build a government that works for everyone. From affordable housing to public safety to economic justice, Ras has proven he’s the progressive leader we need in the Statehouse.”

At the Mercer County Democratic convention last month, won by Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), a delegate representing the caucus, Georganne D’Angelo, voted for Baraka.
