While most of the talk this week is about the potential 2024 U.S. Senate race, maybe between Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) and First Lady Tammy Murphy, it’s still game on in the next governor’s race that is still two years away.

On Tuesday, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) headlined a fundraiser for Mercer County Democrat.  Several legislative, county, and municipal officials were in attendance.  Gottheimer has been raising money for Democrats across the state.

“I was honored to be in Mercer to support Democrats up and down the ballot for one simple reason: we need to win big in Mercer this November, and Chairwoman Mironov and her rock star team are the ones who will deliver that victory!”

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, former Senate President Steve Sweeney, and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka were at a Hunterdon County Democratic fundraiser led by the county chair, Arlene Quinones Perez, on Thursday.

Fulop, the lone announced candidate, announced this week that he had raised $3 million for his gubernatorial campaign – enough to receive the maximum amount of matching funds under New Jersey’s public financing program.

“It’s good to see Steve Sweeney and Ras Baraka on the campaign trail,” Fulop said on social media.  “Let’s go towards 2025.”

Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) attended a fundraiser for State Sen./North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco.
