Fulop Super PAC airing TV ad backing Craig Guy

By David Wildstein, May 22 2023 11:45 am

A super PAC allied with Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop will spend six figures on a cable and connected TV ad backing Craig Guy for the Democratic nomination for Hudson County Executive that targets Democratic primary voters in the county.

Fulop, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2025, does not appear in the Coalition for Progress ad.

In “Beat,” Coalition for Progress uses images of Hudson County, residents, union members, and Guy with a voiceover to remind voters that Guy was a police officer who is concerned about mortgages, inflation, and affordability.

Script: “They say when Craig Guy walked a beat here, he was the guy you went to with a problem.  Someone who’d always lend a hand—watch your back.  He still is Craig Guy is running for County Executive.  And for every working family who can barely pay their mortgage or rent, who feels priced out or left out.  In a county that’s becoming increasingly unaffordable—we can’t afford to sit this one out.  Everyone from Governor Murphy to local officials —from labor unions to police unions—are calling Craig their guy.  This June 6th—he needs your vote.”

The ad, produced by Siegel Strategies and Red Horse Strategies, will begin running on May 23 and air through the June 6 primary

Coalition for Progress played in local races in Trenton, Hillside, and Roselle in 2021 and 2022.
