In Memoriam

Robert LeBuhn, a former chairman of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, died on August 9.  He was 87.  A U.S. Navy veteran, LeBuhn was an investment manager involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors.

Thomas Perry, the sports editor at the Courier-News from 1985 to 1997, died on August 10.  He was 67.  Perry spent 38 years in journalism and was the city editor and features writer at the Des Moines Register from 2005 until his retirement in 2012.

Salvatore DelVecchio, a former Totowa councilman and municipal clerk, died on August 13.  He was 96.  A decorated World War II veteran, DelVecchio was elected to the Totowa Borough Council in 1958 and served as Council President from 1961 to 1973.  He became municipal clerk in 1973 and held that position for 20 years.

Michael Mazzoni, who spent more than fifteen years as a municipal court judge, died on August 12.  He was 73.  He served as a judge for several towns, including Buena Borough and Folsom.  He was also the Millville municipal prosecutor.

Louis Sheairs, Jr., who served as a Runnemede councilman, passed away on August 10.  He was 79.  Sheairs served in the Army National Guard and was an officer of IFPTE Local 241. He was a Deptford fire commissioner.

Bill Itinger, a former police officer and fire safety official, died on August 14.  He was 81.  Itinger was a Monmouth County Sheriff’s deputy and Freeholder Borough police officer.  He was a volunteer firefighter in Freehold for 40 years, serving as president of the Goodwill Hook & Ladder Company.  He also served as chief training officer for the Monmouth County Fire Marshall.

Tom Clayton, a member of the Beachwood Republican Club, died on August 12.  He was 65.
