Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is going on the air today with a new TV ad that touts his progressive agenda and his belief that the wealthy should “pay their fair share,” and endorsements from key New Jersey progressive groups and unions in his bid for the Democratic nomination for governor.

In “Endorsements,” Baraka proposes extending the corporate business tax to pay for transportation and infrastructure projects, and pledges to protect New Jersey from Donald Trump.   It includes Baraka’s voice and a narrator and a clip of Elon Musk.

Script: “(Baraka) No longer can we afford to subsidize millionaires and billionaires (Narrator) Ross Baraka’s progressive agenda for governor: make the wealthy pay their fair share. Extend the corporate business tax to invest in our transportation and infrastructure. Protect New Jersey from Trump’s radical agenda. That’s why Ras Baraka is endorsed by progressive groups across New Jersey. (Baraka) The people united… (Audience) … Will never be defeated.”

In a fifteen-second ad, “Backed by Working Families,” Baraka claims to the “one progressive who Democrats trust” and promises to “stand up to Musk and Trump.”

Script: “In the race for governor, there’s only one progressive who Democrats trust, Ras Baraka. Ras is the Democrat we trust to fight for working families, to make the wealthy pay their fair share, to stand up to Musk and Trump.”

The two ads are part of Baraka’s $4.1 million broadcast, cable and digital ad buy between now and Election Day
