N.J. adds just 7,304 new voters in September

New Jersey added just 7,304 new voters in September, less than the 12,628 new votes who registered in the same month last year.

The state has 6,476,749 voters: 38.7% are Democrats, 23.8% are Republicans, and 38.7% are unaffiliated.   There are 967,271 more Democrats in New Jersey than Republicans.  The Democratic registration edge was more significant one year ago when New Jersey had 1,007,663 more Democrats than Republicans.

Since Joe Biden’s election in November 2020, the number of registered Republicans in New Jersey increased by 6.5%, while the number of Democrats is down 7.3%.

It’s now been fourteen months since New Jersey had more than a million more Democrats than Republicans.  Democrats had reached that number in July 2020, during an amplified presidential election between Biden and Donald Trump.  Republicans have gained ground in New Jersey since Biden’s election.

The deadline to register to vote in this year’s general election is October 17.

New Jersey removed 97,674 voters from its rolls last month after a purge of inactive voters.
