James Tosone, a retired Pfizer executive and author of a book on classical guitars, will be the Libertarian candidate for State Senate in the 39th district in the November 2021 general election.

He is expected to face State Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-River Vale) and Democrat Ruth Dugan.

This is Tosone’s third bid for public office as the Libertarian candidate.  He received 574 votes (0.9%) in his 2017 State Senate bid against incumbent Gerald Cardinale (R-Demarest) and Democrat Linda Schwager.

Tosone ran for Congress in New Jersey’s 5th district in 2018.  The Washington Township resident finished third in a field of four candidates with 2,115 votes (0.7%) against Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).

A former vice chair of the New Jersey Libertarian Party, Tosone spent 30 years at Pfizer, retiring as director of business technology.
