Iris Delgado, a top Democratic strategist from Middlesex County, has been named state director of the Kamala Harris/Tim Walz campaign in New Jersey.

She will head up an effort that includes using New Jersey as a hub to connect local volunteers with battleground states, especially Pennsylvania, that will determine the outcome of the presidential election.    Delgado’s efforts will include organizing New Jersey voters to work on phone banks, and canvassing in key states.

“This election, we all need to do our part whether it’s canvassing, phone banking or talking to friends and family to fight for Vice President Harris’ New Way Forward that will lower costs for families, protect our freedoms and ensure everyone has an opportunity to get ahead,” said Harris-Walz Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez.

Delgado has been the executive director of the Middlesex County Democratic Organization since 2018 and also heads the New Jersey Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee.   She is a graduate of Cornell University.

A former national SEIU political staffer, Delgado managed a 2014 independent expenditure opposing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; she has worked on campaigns in sixteen states.  She ran Victory 2017, the coordinated campaign that helped elect Phil Murphy as governor.

She served on the New Jersey Congressional Redistricting Commission that redrew the state’s twelve congressional districts following the 2020 census.

“This presidential campaign may determine the future of our democracy. Given that significance, I can’t imagine a better choice than Iris Delgado to serve as Vice President Kamala Harris’ state director. Iris is experienced, smart, and well respected throughout our state,” said Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin.  “I congratulate Iris on this honor, and pledge to work alongside her to ensure we elect Kamala Harris as our next President.”
