Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), Republican congressional candidate Ian Smith, and former CWA New Jersey state director Hetty Rosenstein joined host David Wildstein on the New Jersey Globe Power Hour on Talk Radio 77 WABC on Saturday, January 29.
Sherrill is serving her second term in the U.S. House of Representatives. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Sherrill was a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and assistant U.S. Attorney. A Democrat, she flipped a congressional seat in New Jersey’s 11th district in 2018 that Republicans had held for 34 years.
Smith is seeking the Republican nomination for Congress in the 3rd district, where Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) is seeking his third term. Smith is the owner of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr and gained national prominence for refusing to follow Gov. Phil Murphy’s business closures and mask mandates during early months of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rosenstein retired as the leader of the New Jersey Communications Workers of America in 2021 after more than 40 years with the union. She served as a senior advisor to Murphy’s re-election campaign and remains one of the state’ s most influential political leaders as she continues her quest for workers’ rights and social and economic justice.
Wildstein is the host of the New Jersey Globe.
