Newly-elected New South Carolina Democratic State Chair Christale Spain is a close political ally of Cory Booker, something that could pay dividends in 2028 if the U.S. Senator from New Jersey decides to run for President again.

Spain served as South Carolina state political director of Booker’s campaign for the presidency in 2020.

With the support of Rep. James Clyburn, she defeated two challengers on the first ballot with 53% of the vote to become the first Black woman to chair the Democratic Party of South Carolina, which is slated to become the first official primary in the nation next year.

After serving as Bernie Sanders’ state director in 2016 and then as executive director of the state party in 2016 and 2018.

“Christale Spain I one of the most talented political operatives in the country,” said Mo Butler, Booker’s top political advisor.  “Democrats in South Carolina are in good hands.”

Spain had been recruited to serve by both Booker and then-U.S. Senator Kamala Harris in 2018.
