Middletown Mayor Tony Perry and Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench has been named to the Republican Mayors Association advisory board.

They are the only New Jersey GOP mayors on the board of the national organization.

“The RMA was formed with the intention of engaging Republican mayors and winning mayoral races from coast to coast,” said RMA Chairman Eric L. Johnson, the mayor of Dallas. “The election of these mayors to the RMA Advisory Board gives the RMA truly national reach and further strengthens the foundation of the organization to further engage.”

Moench is serving his second term as mayor of Bridgewater, the largest municipality in Somerset County.  He was elected in 2019 after serving as council president and ousting an incumbent in the Republican primary.  Perry was elected to the Middletown Township Committee and has been mayor for six years.  Middletown is Monmouth County’s largest municipality.

Both Perry and Moench are considered potential candidates for higher office and have emerged as strong fundraisers; Perry reportedly raised $176,000 at an event last month.

The national Republican mayoral group support law enforcement and oppose bids to defund or dismantle local police departments.
