Steve Lenox, a former top aide to U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg and a well-known public relations executive, has started a new media company to develop local news.
Oasis Media operates TAPinto franchises in Paterson, Bayonne and Hamilton/Robbinsville and launched Jersey City and Hoboken on April 1.
“Over the past two weeks, we have really seen how crucial local news coverage is,” said Lenox. “Citizens are looking for accurate, well-reported information on local government, schools and their communities in general, particularly during a crisis.”
Lenox has expanded his business at a time when other media outlets are scaling back.
“The purpose of Oasis Media is quite literally to provide an oasis in news deserts,” he said.
His reporting team — Al Sullivan, Kimberley Redmond and Chris Halleron – has 70 years of combined journalism experience.
