Parsippany is getting a new Republican municipal chair.

Louis Valori, who led the frequently splintered local party organization over the last five years,  announced his resignation on Tuesday, saying he was moving to Hainesport to be closer to his grandchildren.

Valori said that the vice chair, Dee dePierro, will likely succeed him.  He said the two agreed that Councilman Justin Musella would become the new vice chair.

Last year, Valori sought the Republican nomination for mayor, but lost the primary to Jamie Barbiero, a former mayor who won a rematch with Michael Soriano in the general election,

“We were both able to run on issues and stuck to our word and avoided all personal attacks. This in itself was historical in the world of Parsippany politics,” Valori said. “After the primary we all came back together and united behind our candidates.”

Valori is a former police officer and councilman.
