Jersey City Councilman James Solomon isn’t ready to say if he will run for mayor in 2025, instead pledging to keep working with the incumbent mayor, Steve Fulop, on local issues.
Fulop announced today that he would not seek re-election to a fourth term.
“Today is a day to thank Mayor Fulop for nearly two decades of public service to Jersey City,” Solomon said. “No matter what the future holds for either of us, I look forward to working over the next three years to deliver progressive leadership in Jersey City that stands up to its wealthiest developers and corporations and delivers on affordable housing and clean government.”
Solomon, a two-term councilman representing the Downtown ward, is widely considered a likely candidate for mayor.
