Joan Quigley is out as president and CEO of the North Hudson Community Action Corporation, the New Jersey Globe has confirmed.

Quigley informed key officials today that she was giving up her $275,000-a-year job just before leaders of the politically influential non-profit social services agency were preparing to tell her it was time to go

The 88-year-old former nine-term assemblywoman from Jersey City had been squatting on the top post – and two key Hudson leaders, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the communities served by the agency had been suffering.

Quigley got the job in 2013, two years after legislative redistricting ended her career in the legislature

Giovanni Ahmad, the Weehawken township manager and ally of Mayor Richard Turner, assumed the agency’s chairmanship last year. Elise DeNardo, the counsel to the Union City Board of Education, is the vice chair.

State Sen./Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack is expected to pick the new executive director.
