Democratic Councilman David Cohen won re-election to the Princeton Council, while fellow Democrat Marina Rubina won the open seat being vacated by retiring Councilwoman Leticia Fraga. The pair defeated Republican challenger Antonio Merolli, an orthopedic surgeon.

Cohen received 7,535 votes, while Rubina received 7,286. Merolli received 1,919 votes.

Rubina, an architect, will succeed Fraga on the council. Merolli was the only Republican candidate in the race.

The victories preserve Democratic control of the Princeton Council.

Princeton remains one of New Jersey’s most reliably Democratic municipalities. Harris carried the town by 64 points in 2024, while Sherrill won it by 65 points in 2025.
