Two influential law enforcement unions has endorsed Craig Guy, a retired police officer, for the Democratic nomination for Hudson Cunty Executive.
Guy has received the backing of the Fraternal Order of Police of New Jersey and the Jersey City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4 as he seeks to replace retiring County Executive Tom DeGise.
“Craig Guy is a dedicated and experienced public servant, and am looking forward to working with him to serve Hudson County,” said FOP NJ president Bob Fox. “ As a retired law enforcement officer Craig brings a unique perspective to elected office that will allow him to keep the communities he serves safe and support the essential work of police officers in Hudson County.”
Guy has served as DeGise’s chief of staff and has the backing of the Hudson County Democratic Organization to succeeding him.
“There is no question that Craig has the experience, expertise, and dedication for the job,” said Detective Joe Vesey, the FOP Lodge 4 president. “His long career as a police officer gives him the on-the-ground perspective to effectively advocate for our county’s law enforcement and the communities that they protect.”
A former Lodge 4 president, Sgt. Robert Vogt, said that as a 44-year FOP member, Guy “has proven that he will be a champion for Hudson County, and will work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.”
“Throughout my career I have been dedicated to uplifting our county’s law enforcement officers, and ensuring that Hudson County’s police departments have the resources, training, and support that they need to keep us safe,” said Guy. “As the next County Executive I will continue this work. I look forward to working with the law enforcement community in Hudson County, including members of the new police academy and my friends at Lodge 4 to get it done.”
Guy faces Eliana Little in the Democratic primary.
