Parsippany Mayor James Barberio is backing Bill Spadea for the Republican nomination for governor next year, giving the New Jersey 101.5 radio host support from the largest municipality in Morris County.
“Bill has consistently joined me as we restored Parsippany to its former glory,” said Barberio. “There is no one who has spent more time listening to the residents of Parsippany – and all of New Jersey – than Bill and I have complete and total confidence that he will continue working alongside us to rebuild and revitalize our community.”
Barberio is seeking re-election next year and faces a primary challenge from Councilman Justin Musella. Musella announced his candidacy last Saturday with another gubernatorial candidate, State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield), in attendance.
Spadea called Barberio “a tireless advocate for the people of Parsippany.”
“He epitomizes what a local Mayor should be and our friendship will last long beyond any campaign,” Spadea said.
Barberio is also the Parsippany GOP municipal chairman.
Another candidate, Jack Ciattarelli, has not yet settled on a candidate.
