Assemblyman-elect John Allen (D-Hoboken) has hired an aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul as his chief of staff.

Christine Stoll worked for then-Lt. Governor Hochul as director of advance and special events and moved to the governor’s office in 2020 after Andrew Cuomo’s resignation.  She served as Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Michale Miller (D-Queens) and as scheduler and constituent service representative to New York City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley (D-Queens).

“Her dedication, experience, and commitment to service make her an invaluable asset in advancing the priorities of our office to drive positive change in both our district and in Trenton,” Allen said.  Together, we will strive to make meaningful progress and serve our constituents with passion and integrity.”

Allen will take office on January 9 as the new assemblyman from Hudson County’s 32nd district.  He’ll fill the Hoboken seat of Assemblywoman Annette Chaparro (D-Hoboken), who did not receive party support for a fifth term earlier this year.

Active in New York politics, Stoll was a Democratic district leader in Queens.  She now resides in New Jersey with her husband,  Vijay Chaudhuri, the chief of staff to Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

“I’m committed to working tirelessly to support his vision, serving the residents of Hoboken and Jersey City, and making a significant impact in our community,” Stoll said.

Out-of-state staff hires for legislators are not unusual.
