Mussab Ali gets backing of prominent national political leaders

Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna and Keith Ellison take sides in Jersey City mayoral race

Mussab Ali has picked up some high-profile national endorsements in his bid to become mayor of Jersey City in the November non-partisan municipal election, including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), Rep. Ro Khanna (D-California), and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a former congressman.

Ali, a former Jersey City Board of Education President and a Harvard Law graduate, is one of five candidates seeking to succeed Steve Fulop, who is campaigning for the Democratic nomination for governor.

“Mussab understands that cities have a responsibility to stand up against Donald Trump—and he’s not afraid to lead that fight,” Omar stated. “I cannot wait to see the bold progress he will deliver for Jersey City.”

Khanna, a possible candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, said Ali “represents exactly the kind of next-generation leadership we need—young, progressive, and deeply rooted in his community.”

“Mussab has already given more to Jersey City than most do in a lifetime, and he has my full support,” he explained.

Ellison the life story of Mussab, a young cancer survivor, as one of resilience, dedication, and innovative leadership.”

“His work on the Jersey City Board of Education and his ongoing efforts to address housing inequality show a deep commitment to justice and equity, values that are essential for any community to thrive,” said Ellison.
