Workers responsible for laundering medical linens in New Jersey and New York plan to begin a two-day strike in Perth Amboy over termination threats allegedly made by Unitex.
They claim Unitex, a textiles firm with a focus on medical wear, illegally threatened to fire union workers in a bid to force agreement to a new contract and refused to provide employees with personal protective equipment.
The strike is backed by Workers United and the Service Employees International Union, with which Workers United is affiliated.
