Melfi will seek fourth term as Hunterdon county clerk

By David Wildstein, January 01 2021 1:20 pm

Hunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi announced today that she would seek re-election to a fourth term in 2021.

“I love what I do,” Melfi said.  “I have great staff and that there is no one better to work for than the people of Hunterdon County.”

County Commissioners Susan Solloway and Matthew Holt are also up for re-election to the all-Republican board in 2021.  They have not yet announced their plans.

Melfi started out as a Flemington councilwoman in 1994 and was elected county clerk in 2006 following the retirement of Dorothy Tirpok.  She won an open seat in a three-way Republican primary that year by a 47%-24% margin.

She was unopposed when she ran for re-election in 2016.
