Hackensack educator Gerald Carroll will seek a Hackensack City Council seat this May on a ticket with Mayor John Labrosse.
Carroll will replace Deputy Mayor David Sims, who was dropped from the ticket after a December incident when he brought a family member into City Hall even though she had already tested positive for COVID-19.
“Gerard Carroll is a true pillar of our community and someone who has devoted his life to educating children and setting them on the path to success,” Labrosse said. “As a committed public servant, he shares the values that drive all of us and I’m certain that he will make an excellent addition to the City Council.”
Carroll, 64, will run with Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino, Councilman Leo Battaglia and Councilwoman Stephanie Von Rudenborg
“The progress Hackensack has made in recent years with Mayor Labrosse and his team leading the way is truly remarkable and I am honored and excited to join this team and contribute to our city’s future,” Carroll said. “I love Hackensack and want nothing more than to see our city thrive.”
