The New Jersey Globe projects that Ocean County Commissioners Virginia Haines and Jack Kelly, running on the Ocean GOP line, have won renomination against former Toms River Board of Education member Ashley Lamb and pastor Sergio Fossa, who were bracketed with 4th congressional district candidate Mike Crispi.

Haines and Kelly will seek their 4th and 11th terms, respectively, against Democrats Catherine Paura and Roxanne Barnes this November. Paura mounted an unsuccessful bid for commissioner in 2021, ultimately coming in fourth place.

Incumbent Republican Sheriff Michael Mastronardy was renominated unopposed. He will face Democratic candidate Eugene Davis in a county where Republicans control every countywide office.

Mastronardy is also running to be chair of the Ocean County GOP. His opponent in that race is former chairman George Gilmore, who led the county party from 1996 until his conviction in 2019 on tax-related charges; Gilmore was later pardoned by former President Donald Trump on Trump’s final day in office.
