Hudson population growth is largest in N.J.

Hudson County — sparked by new housing in Jersey City, grew by 14.3% over the last ten years, the state’s largest percentage increase, gaining 90,588 new residents, according to U.S. Census data released on Thursday.

Ocean County is up by 10.5% in population (+60,662) and Essex is up by 10.2% (+79,759).

Five New Jersey counties lost population since the 2010 census: Sussex is down 3.4%, Cape May by 2%, Salem by 1.9%, and Cumberland by 1.75%.  Atlantic County essentially stood pat, losing 15 people over the last decade.

Bergen remains New Jersey’s largest county, with 955,732 residents.  Bergen increased by 50,616 (5.6%).

Union is up 7.24%, Somerset by 6.8%, Middlesex by 6.6%, Mercer, by 5.7%, Gloucester by 4.9%, Passaic by 4.6%, Morris by 3.5%, Burlington by 2.9%, Monmouth by 2.1%, Camden by 1.9%, Warren by 940 by .9% and Hunterdon by 4.8%.

Ever municipality in Hudson County grew their population over the last ten years.

Jersey City added 44,852 new residents since 2010, with an 18% jump in population.  Hoboken is up 10,414 (21%), while Weehawken increased by 37% and Secaucus by 36%.
