Firefighters union endorses Benson for County Executive

In his bid for the Democratic nomination for Mercer County Executive, Dan Benson has received the support of the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey.

“Dan Benson is a fighter and champion for working families across the state and is someone who we can count on as an advocate when facing a tough issue,” said Steve McConlogue, the union president.

Benson, a six-term assemblyman, is challenging fiver-term incumbent Brian Hughes in the Democratic primary.  The two are facing off at the Mercer County Democratic Convention on Sunday.

Anthony Tarantino, the first vice president of the union, said that Benson “understands what firefighters in New Jersey have to deal with on a daily basis and always has stood by us to ensure we have what we need to keep the public safe and allow us to put food on the table for our families.”

“Public safety is important for all residents, and we must protect those who protect us,” stated Benson.   “Firefighters do more than just fight fires, and we must continue to honor their service and get them the resources necessary to keep the public safe.”
