Carty accused of sexual harassment in lawsuit against Mount Holly fire commissioners

Lawsuit alleges June Gaskill and another commissioner enabled Carty’s misconduct as he plays a role in local elections

Jason Carty, an embattled political consultant facing criminal charges of assault and voter fraud, is at the center of a sexual harassment lawsuit accusing two Mount Holly fire commissioners of enabling his alleged misconduct toward a female employee.

The lawsuit, filed October 21 in Burlington County Superior Court by firefighter Courtney Catrillo, names Fire Commissioners June Gaskill and Nicole Saucier individually and in their official capacities, along with the fire district and its board.

Gaskill’s husband, George Gaskill, is running for fire commissioner in Tuesday’s election with Carty’s support.  Carty has displayed Gaskill’s campaign sign on his lawn and linked himself to June Gaskill in social media posts and text messages.

According to the complaint, Gaskill and Saucier voted in March 2025 to appoint Carty as director of fire services, giving him sweeping authority over district employees.

Catrillo alleges Carty subsequently subjected her to repeated sexually explicit remarks and unwanted physical contact.

At an April gathering, Carty allegedly grabbed Catrillo’s breasts and told her, “I need these in my mouth.”

The complaint also alleges Carty told her, “I’ve never met a woman that I couldn’t fuck,” in Saucier’s presence.

After Catrillo reported the alleged harassment during an investigation, Gaskill allegedly told another firefighter, “I would give you a hug, but (Catrillo) might call it harassment because she’s fucking ridiculous.”

The lawsuit accuses Gaskill and Saucier of aiding and abetting sexual harassment and failing to take corrective action.  Carty is not named as a defendant.

A judge invalidated Carty’s appointment in September 2025, but the complaint alleges Gaskill and Saucier continued supporting his employment.

Carty, the estranged husband of Lumberton Committeewoman Gina LaPlaca, has meanwhile sought to inject national partisan politics into Mount Holly’s nonpartisan elections, tying fire commissioner candidates to President Donald Trump.

Carty ally Mark Fury distributed campaign literature Monday pairing his candidacy with Sen. Cory Booker under the slogan “Vote Cory Booker and Mark Fury, the Real Democrats.”  LaPlaca used an identical approach in June’s Democratic primary.

Booker has not endorsed a candidate in the Mount Holly contest.
