A Mercer County man’s voter registration appears to have disappeared, but a judge has stepped in to block his disenfranchisement
The man testified that he has lived in Mercer County continuously for fifteen years and voted in the 2025 general election, but when he went early to vote on Sunday, his name did not appear on the voter rolls.
“We have no record of him at all,” said Jay DeCillis, a county election official. “We can’t have voting records like this lost, obviously.”
Superior Court Judge Jodi Bouer said she had “never had a case like this in front of me before.”
“It’s unsettling,” the voter said.
Bouer said she found the voter to be “very, very credible” and ordered him entered on the voter rolls so he could vote by machine at his local polling place tomorrow.
Deputy Attorney General Zachary Aboff said a provisional ballot would not work because it would be rejected if he wasn’t registered to vote.
DeCillis said his office will “try to track down the missing records.” The voter said he didn’t retain copies of old sample ballots. He said he only votes in general elections.
