Lee Vartan, a former Executive Assistant Attorney General of New Jersey and Assistant U.S. Attorney, is joining Mercury, one of the state’s top public affairs firms, as a member of their advisory board.

Vartan is also a partner at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi, a prestigious New Jersey law firm.
He had been under consideration for appointment as the U.S. Attorney after Joe Biden became president and for Attorney General during Gov. Phil Murphy’s second term.

At the attorney general’s office, Vartan ran some of the largest civil and criminal investigations in the state. He also developed New Jersey’s Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act.
