Kayleigh Lavornia has been named chief of staff to State Sen. Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick).

“Kayleigh brings experience, a dedication to helping people, and a deep knowledge of state, county, and local government into the role,” Zwicker said.

Lavornia joined Zwicker’s staff as a scheduling and legislative aide in 2022 after working as a field organizer on Gov. Phil Murphy’s re-election campaign and as an aide to Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur.

“It is impossible to overstate my excitement to be working with Senator Zwicker in this capacity,” Lavornia stated. “I have seen firsthand the remarkable ways Senator Zwicker fights for everyday families, and I welcome this opportunity to continue serving the district we represent.”

Zwicker was elected to the Senate in 2021, representing parts of Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer, and Hunterdon counties.  He defeated former Rep. Michael Pappas with 53%, and then won re-election to a four-year term in 2023 with 56% in a rematch with the former GOP congressman.

He won his first of three terms in the State Assembly in 2015, unseating Republican incumbent Donna Simon by 78 votes.
