State Sen. Linda Greenstein (Plainsboro) has a Republican opponent.
Attorney Adam Elias filed to run in the 14th legislative district, beginning his campaign with an attempt to link Greenstein to Gov. Phil Murphy.
“The residents of the Fourteenth District have been poorly served for far too long. Linda Greenstein has done nothing to reign in the unchecked mandates that continue to flow from the Governor’s office during the pandemic,” the Monroe resident said.
The Republican, a former assistant Burlington County prosecutor will face an uphill battle in the Middlesex-Mercer-based district.
Though Greenstein was re-elected by just 2.4 points in 2013, Democrats typically win there by wide margins. In 2017, for example, Greenstein defeated then-Hamilton Councilwoman Illeana Schirmer by 13 points.
“Consider this: under Phil Murphy and Linda Greenstein’s leadership during the past twelve months, over one-third of New Jersey small businesses have permanently closed their doors,” Elias said. “This statistic alone confirms that Senator Greenstein has overstayed her welcome in Trenton and it is high time for a fresh voice to confront the increasing challenges faced by small business owners and the communities they serve across the Garden State.”
