The Princeton Community Democratic Organization has unanimously endorsed Mitchelle Drulis for an open State Assembly seat in the 16th district, making her the prohibitive favorite to win the Mercer County Democratic convention in two weeks, especially since she is unopposed.

Drulis has already won the organization line in Hunterdon County and is unopposed in the upcoming convention in Middlesex.

A former district director for Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) and chief of staff to Assembly Labor Committee Chairman Joe Egan, Drulis is almost certain to be her party’s pick to replace Sadaf Jaffer (D-Montgomery) in the legislature.    Jaffer announced in January that she would not seek re-election to a second term.

“Thank you to the Princeton Community Democratic Organization for your unanimous support for Assembly in the 16th District,” Drulis said.  “Thank you to President Nick DiDomizio, and the entire PCDO membership for the faith you have put in me to fight for Princeton and every 16th District family in the state legislature.”

The PCDO also backed State Sen. Andrew Zwicker (D-South Brunswick) and Roy Freiman (D-Hillsborough) for re-election.

“We have proudly delivered for Princeton through investments in critical infrastructure projects, providing our small businesses the resources they need to recover and succeed, and making New Jersey more affordable and safe for families,” the incumbents said in a statement.
